I jumped on the food blogging bandwagon as a means to share my passion not only for cooking but for living a healthy, happy lifestyle. Having battled severe acid reflux for several years leading to medication and extensive testing I realized the impact that food and lifestyle can play in overall health. In addition, heart disease and autoimmune diseases are a common occurrence in my family and seeing first hand the importance of finding balance in nutrition and life led me to do some research and testing of my own. I dappled in following a strict gluten-free diet, vegan diet and even the paleo diet at various times to find out what would work best for me. After trial and error, I realized along the way that not one solid method suited my needs. I knew that one in particular wasn’t creating the best foundation for my own health. With this realization, I continued to eliminate and re-introduce certain foods back into my cooking and concluded that with the proper balance of healthy fats, protein, whole grains and dairy, in moderation, I really could have it all. Moderation and balance, with what I deem tolerable to me, I have found to be key in feeling my best and even being medication free. In addition to finding balance in the kitchen, I use fitness, yoga and meditation as a means of finding it in everyday life. Building strength in my body has helped to create the overall well-being I strive for. Fortunately now, I am able, through my blog, to spread my passion for cooking, yoga and the knowledge of balance and hopes that my readers will feel the same eagerness to build a healthy lifestyle that is suitable for their own needs. I also realize that restrictions and requirements are common and yet different from person to person, so this blog will always offer a variety of recipes including gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, egg-free, soy-free, vegan and paleo. I hope that my readers will find the same passion for cooking and figure out what works best for them. So be creative, have fun and most importantly feel like the best self you can!
